Kiwi writing a book set in Texas (need help with business laws)
Dear Sir/Ma'am,
I am a magazine editor living in New Zealand who, two
years ago, through some strange notion began writing
a book that is set in Texas.
The research has been done - the most
time consuming part - and plot organised. The
writing is the easy part.
However, I am a stickler for detail. Throughout the book
I will require legal advice concerning
business/company/will etc laws in Texas. I
would be most grateful if someone would be interested
in helping me out from time to time as I try to cross
such legal barriers and decipher the jargon. Of course,
a nice accredition will appear in the book once I get it in
print!
To a lesser extent, but still very much appreciated, if
there is someone who perhaps knows of a web site
where Texan business laws can be researched it
would be great to know.
Kindest regards from down under,
--name removed--Robertson

There really isn't a website readily available for researching Texas business law. The caselaw sites are proprietary.
I'd be pleased to try and answer your questions.

Howdy:
Texas Statutes can be found at the Texas Legislature's website, http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/statutes/statutes.html, and Findlaw (http://www.findlaw.com) has a pretty good online library.
But, as stated, sometimes the case law can be hard to find.

What is the setting of the book? I assume it is fiction. When is it set (year)?
I am interested in finding out more information about the book and any questions you may have.
