Order of Steps

What are the order of steps that I need to follow to legalize my own business and make it a legitamate and legal?

I am 17 and I am starting my own business...I really need some help.

If you are doing business in a name other than your own you should file an "Assumed Name Certficate" with the County Clerk in the county you are doing business, Harris County for example. I believe if you go to the online site for Harris County the form may be available. The fiing fee is about $15.00. If you wish to operate as a corporation or Limited Liability Company, to prevent personal liability for yourself, you would have to file the appropriate documants with the Secretary of State of Texas. The filing fees are about $200.00. If you have employees you will need to obtain a Federal I.D. -Larry Maun
