Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Texas

Not reporting a death

My mom died almost a year ago. The cause is still unknown to us, but what IS known is that her boyfriend was in her home AFTER she passed away and did NOT report it. He's admitted to being in her home, and knowing she dead. None of my families questions about his being there have been answered. We're being told not to question anything and that the boyfriend did nothing wrong by not reporting anything. What can we do to get answers to our questions? Can nothing be done about him not reporting it?

Re: Not reporting a death

Not reporting a death is a crime. My first question would be how long of a period of time passed before he contacted someone regarding the death.

If you feel the local police are not handling this properly you should contact the Texas Rangers to look into this matter because they police the police.

Sincerely,

Erick Platten
