Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Texas

threatened with pitbull

the neighbor claimed that our dog bit their sister's child.authorties were called, authorties called paremedics to exam child, animal control was also called. paramedics, police and animal control stated that it wasn't a bite it appeared to look like a scratch.animal control took possesion of our dog. police officers and animal control stated that our dog didn't appear to be agressive.the minor was in possesion of the pit bull in attack mode when officers arrived he was asked by officers what his intintions were.he stated that he was going to release dog on us. we pressed charges on him. but now we do not allow our children out because we are in fear that they may let go of their dog. so my children are actually being held as prisoners in the house because they are afraid to go outside because at the time that the minor threatened to release pitbull they were outside and heard him.i need to know if there is any kind of civil suit that i can file and for how much.

Re: threatened with pitbull

negligence is covered by most homeowners insurance..and IF your dog had bitten someone, call your insurance agent...but to protect your family from them...try talking, get the police involved BEFORE ..and if no help..yes you can sue, cost minimum $2500 or more...with most lawyers to enjoin the threats..and then after injunction, to collect if violated..so best to try selfhelp..in some reasonable fashion..
