Legal Question in Technology Law in Texas

my brother was doing (free)computer work for a comunity center for a church that he attended. He had a set of keys to the center so he had access to work anytime he wanted to. he has always taken different parts of the computers to his house and reprogramed and done other stuff. He has to make a living so this free work was done on his free time and this is how it has been since he started. The comunity center had my brother arrested for theft and he spent the night in jail and had to go in front of the judge. The judge dismissed the charges and told the CC people that he(the judge) is recommending that my brother pursue charges against them for false arrest and for slandering my brothers good name and reputation. He has lost work due to this. What are my brothers options on filing a lawsuit against them and where does he start.

The answer is simple, you start by hiring an intellectual property lawyer to review the details of any agreements involved and to write a proper cease and desist letter if the case appears solid. You want this done by an attorney so the attorney will be ready to go to court quickly if the CC managers/owners do not respond favorably. The assets the the CC may not justify a suit, but that will be even truer for the CC. So, the initial demand to the CC by your attorney will be quite important and you want it done right.

Good Luck. I am a Texas lawyer in addition to Missouri and Illinois, but I think you want someone local to put added pressure on the CC. Call me if you want a referral.
