Legal Question in Technology Law in Texas

copied internet sites

Hi,

started trading on the net with motorbike alarms about one year ago. Became soon proffesional. Competition came and competed wich is fine.

Now I found out that someone has copied all my text from my site. And I mean each and every word,

I paid a lot of money for finding the right words.

Can I stop him using the excact same words?

Re: copied internet sites

If you have obtained copyright registrations for your site, then, if you know who has infringed your works, you can immediately sue them in federal court. If you have not obtained your registrations, depending on the jurisdiction, you will either need to have the registrations in hand before you sue or at least have applied for the registrations. An intellectual property attorney in your state could clarify this for you. It is my experience that a cease and desist letter to an infringer without the registrations, or at least the applications, is not effective.

Thanks for your question.

Best regards,

Todd Epp

Yes, it is possible to stop a copyright infringer from using the exact words of an originally worded text of a website. I am a Texas lawyer (have been since 1973 when I graduated from Univ. of Texas Law School) and I specialize in copyright infringments and internet law, among other things. See my website www.burdlaw.com and click on copyrights for information. Click on my name for information on me. I should be able to help you in this matter, but it will not be cheap nor free.
