Legal Question in Technology Law in Texas

Hello, I am in Texas and was walking from one location to another thru a parking lot and stopped to take a picture of a construction cane. A few minutes later while inside a fast food establishment I was approached by a city police officer asking me if I had been taking pictures of cars. I told him no and he sais he had rec'd a call that I had ben taking pictures of cars and I again told him I had not. I told him that I had stopped and taken a picture of a construction crane which was across he street at TAMU and showed him the display on the camera. I had been a police officer for several years many ears ago and to my knowledge it was not then nor is it now illegal to take pictues of cars. Am I correct and should I have a chat with the young lady who called it in.

Yes and No. Yes you are right and no, you should not have a chat with the young lady. She was right to report activity she thought was suspicious and you should not dissuade her from doing so.
