Legal Question in Technology Law in Texas

I wrote a positive article on the web for a company about 4 years ago. This article now has number one position in google, Yahoo, and bing. Out of the blue, the company owner is requesting me to take the article offline. Can I just say no and to appreciate the free publicity they're receiving?

Depends on the content of the article and why the company is requesting you to take it offline. You should talk to an intellectual property lawyer about this. You could repost here with some facts, starting with what the owner alleges in his request as the reason you are being asked to take the article offline. I am confident you are not telling the whole story and not even enough for a reasoned response to be written. Go back and start over with an informative question.
