Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas

Deception it gets ugly

Approximately 3 weeks ago I bought a used mustang from an individual that had a rebuilt title. I inquired why it stated rebuilt and the answer given was because they had replaced the driver rear quarter panel and had to have the title rebuilt. Since then I had some trouble and took it to a ford body shop and found out that major repairs and cover ups were done to the car. I did call the person who sold the car and am waiting on some information requested from him re: his replacements. Since he did not disclose or claims to not have any knowledge of any other things done to the car what can I due legally since I do not want a car that I've come to find out is majorly patched up?

Somebody please help.

Re: Deception it gets ugly

You can threaten to sue the individual for the difference between what you paid and what the car is actually worth, multiplied by three under the Deceptive Trade Practices Act. If he'll return your money, you'll sign the car back to him.

Otherwise you'll just have to trade the car in, or sell it as is, and get another.

A "Rebuilt" or "Salvage" title means the car has been so severely damaged that the insurance company totaled the vehicle. You've just learned an expensive lesson.
