Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

child support judgment lien/civil judgment lien

I have a civil judgment and child support judgment against my ex spouse. I would like to know if I can file a lien against a limited partnership of which he is a general partner. The partnership is placing real estate for sale and I would like to intercept the distribution of the sale proceeds to the general partner. The ownership interest the genral partner has is 50% of which I was assigned 49% as a result of the divorce. I would like to assure the distribution of my 49% to me and 1% of his towards judgment.

Re: child support judgment lien/civil judgment lien

There are several procedural steps to take to collect on your civil judgment and child support judgment. A judgment by itself or a lien is not sufficient to assure collection of the amounts owed to you. I have done these procedures in family law cases and other cases several times. If you want my assistance on this, please call me at 1-877-320-5232

In general, the interest of your ex in the partnership can be attached under legal process. You cannot take action which affects the entire partnership, nor interfere with its otherwise legal business dealings.

This is a technical area, not do-it-yourself. Consider retaining legal counsel to guide you through this.
