Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Credit card delimma

My sister obtained a credit card, and

wrote my name in as a possible user.

She lives in NJ, and I live in Texas.

I have never seen the card, I never

signed to be a user, and I have never

used the card. Can I be held liable

for the debt on that card?

Re: Credit card delimma

Wonderful sister you got there. Did you have any knowledge of what she was doing? How did you learn it was her doing this to your credit? You cannot be held liable for the debts incurred by your sister unless you had knowledge of what she was doing; that would make you a party to her fraud. Nonetheless, these things can impact your credit very negatively unless you take aggressive steps to convince the CC company that they have not been dealing with you and cooperate with them in going after your sister.
