Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

credit reports

we got behind on our bills.some went to collections,since then we have paid them all off. they are still on our credit report.all of them are over 7 years old but we paid them off within the last 2 yrs. i felt we did the right thing by paying them off, we owed the money. but do we have bad credit for another 7 years? or should we have not paid, and let them go away after 7 yrs.

You did the right thing by paying them off. Now, contact the credit bureaus and request a form for adding comments, so you can explain why the payments were late in coming. If the explanation is reasonable, that should improve your credit rating.
