Friend of mine is driving a car that his friend stopped payin notes on more than year ago..what kind of trouble can he get in if he is stopped in this vehicle? Inst that considered theft in Texas?

No, it isn't theft. If his initial appropriation of the vehicle is legal, then he isn't a thief.
