Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I am being harassed by a company by the name of Mutual Associates on behalf of a collection for a personal loan that I took out about 3 years ago. The amount they say I owe is 1499.72. I have already paid them 500.00 which was all I have due to being unemployed. This brought my balance to 999.72. They called me again today and are trying to collect the remaining balance TODAY. They say that they are going to take me to court and collect from properties in my name: such as my only vehicle and my parents home (my name is listed on the deed of their house. I will become mine in the event of their death.) I would like to know what my rights are and if there is anything that I can do legally to keep them from taking my parents property and my only vehicle? My parents have already filed bankruptcy and if they loose their home they have no where to go.

they are violating the fair debt collection law..and u can write the creditor "cease and desist any further phone calls or collection efforts"...keep a copy, but send asap...and get name/phone of person calling..or send the info to us and for a nominal fee..we will write..but they can't take anything from parents..nor you without a court judgment..
