Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I am being harrassed by a Company called FCI stating I owe a payday loan from 2007. I have not heard of this company but they have my information. They have called me at work and threatened me. On Friday I was out of the office and they called my assistant and threatened her and stated she needed to give them my supervisor's number as well as the payroll department. They just now called me and I stated I was trying to retrieve my bank records for that period and they threatened me with garnishing my wages. Is this legal and what recourse do I have. I live in San Antonio, Texas. Something like this would cause me to loose my job.

If it is 2007, it is probably outside the statute of limitations. FCI is probably a collection company that purchased the zombie debt. You can send them a debt verification letter as well as a cease and desist letter. Whatever you do, do not pay them until the debt has been verified.

You might look for a local attorney that litigate collection abuse violations.

If u don't hire a local attorney to punish suich debt collectors, they will continue unjust harassment..and if u have any proof..ie letters/witnesses etc...you should end up with small cost for a decent recovery
