Statute of Limitations

What is the statute of limitations for an attorney to collect his fee from me. Are each of the monthly invoices for services that I have recieved considered separate for the purposes of the limitation. I have been making weekly payments to this attorney but he nows wants the entire payment and is threatening to sue.
