Might get sued for old debt

I was contacted by a collection agency saying I owe them 1181.00 and that I need to pay this old account back in 2001 I know I have not made a payment since then and they told me that somehow I did make a payment to another collection agency in 2005 for 21.00 by money order and will not show me proof with out a fee for those how is this possible I know I did not send that payment in. What can I do they want to sue me now.

Don't believe them..if you have the time and want to sue..get the name and address to send a request for proof...and you may want to sue...but it is a scam
