Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Unknown Debt

My parent never had a credit card in their life other than an Exxon credit card. Other than the house mortgage, they do not believe in credit and only pay cash for what they can afford their whole life. Both retired long ago and recently received a letter from the collection agency asking them to settle a 27K by paying 8K before July 31st.

What are their options as theyre clueless of the debts and have no mean to pay anyway? Can they just ignore the letter?

Re: Unknown Debt

Call us...or at least mail the letter..NO do not disregard although it may be a ruse/sham but when you disregard such letters you may find someone wins by default
