Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

I was caught shoplifting about 6 months ago and issued a citation. I have since relocated to another state yet I failed to handle this matter due to financial issues. The citation has now turned into a warrant for my arrest. I would like to know what would be the best route for me to take because I have to go back to Texas. To handle some family buisness. Please help if you can. Thank you for your time.

You should call the court to see if they will require you to post a bond or if they will let you simply put the case on the docket. The best way to have handled it was to have gotten a deferred disposition which would have protected your record but since you absconded, it is not likely that a court will grant this now.

You might want to contact a lawyer in the area where the case is and have them handle the matter for you. You might not have to appear.

Hire an attorney. Post a bond to lift the warrant or have the attorney to workout something on the case and turn you on the same day that the deal is finalized. Have your attorney workout a deal that will allow you to have a clean record if you are concerned about your record and have no priors.
