Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Deferred Adjudication Gun Rights

In 1978 I served two years probation under Georgia's First Offender Act for a non-violent non-drug related theft charge. My understanding of the law is that there is no conviction record (none shows up on a public database like PublicData.com. The Brady Law as I read it says I would be prohibited from posessing firearms ''while on probation'' for a first offender/deferred adjudcation situation (which ended 25 years ago). Other people I know that have been in deferred adjudication situations show up with a ''case continued without finding'' on PublicData.com. I have also made other searches of state and county records in Georgia and found no record of my case.

My Question:

Will I be denied under NICS if I attempt to purchase a firearm?

Will I be in violation of atate or federal law if I possess a firearm?

Thanks for your input.

Re: Deferred Adjudication Gun Rights

You need to ask an attorney in Georgia or better yet you should contact ATF so you don't get in any federal trouble.
