Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Forgery by Possession

My 17 y/o son was caught with 3 boys who had counterfeit money. My son admitted it was given to him and he divided it between the others. My son tore his up, out of fear. Boys were caught, my son had nothing on him but admitted he had it in the past, one boy 16 had it and was put in a juvenile hall. 20 y/o went to jail. My son was driven around the neighborhood, pointed out who was printing it and taken back to his car. I called the detective the next day, he says my son will be charged with ''forgery by possession''...what does this mean? He didn't have any on him when caught, he just told them he had it one time. The other boy is in no trouble, he didn't have any on him and didn't admit to anything. Detective said my son would have a warrant in appx 2 weeks. More than likely would be put on probation since he hasn't been in trouble before. Do I need a lawyer? Secret Service is looking into it, detective doesn't think they will take the case because of the small amount of money it involves. This is all new to me, will I need bond or bail money (don't know what the difference is). It is up to the judge to set that amount? Do I need to get a loan? I am clueless and scared in Texas!!
