Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

My friend, who has 2 previous aggravated assault convictions hit someone. This someone has filed a civil lawsuit against my friend's boyfriend who was there at the time and got in between them. Someone has gone after him in a civil action because she thinks he has money (kind of vehicle they were driving, he has his own company). He was served and his girlfriend, my friend, was named as a "cohort" in the civil action, not her name. Is it possible for there also to be a criminal action coming? Can 2 exist at one time? I am fairly certain that the person she hit when someone called the police, that that person filed assault charges against her. The police even came to my friend's house to get her side of the story later that day. Advice?

She needs to hire a lawyer. She possibly has a warrant under FNU LNU (first name unknown, last name unknown) if they do not know her name. Doubtful that the police care about her side of the story except to nail her down on a version of the events so she cannot later change it without being impeached.

There absolutely can be a civil suit as well as a criminal suit going at the same (or different) times.
