Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Hello my name is Michelle and I a 19 yr. old female. I have been charged with a Class B misdeamor of theft of 84 dollars. This is my first offense ever, I have never had a record or ticket. I am otherwise a well-behaved girl I just wasn't really thinking and realizing there are consequences. I go to college full-time, and I work part-time as a waitress. What should I be expecting when I go into court? What should I plead?

Based on what you have written, the DA may offer you some alternate form of punishment. You should consider having a local law firm assist you with protecting your rights and interest, as a theft case can effect you for the remainder of your life if not handled properly. There are a few different options which may be available to you. Law firms have different payment options which may be of use to you and you should consider exploring those options vice handling this type of case on you own. I would also strongly suggest that you hire a lawyer to represent you on this case. This is a theft case that could be on your record for the rest of your life. The last thing that you need is to have a crime of moral turpitude following you around making it difficult to get jobs or to find an apartment. You are facing up to 180 days in jail. I strongly urge you to hire a lawyer.
