Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Prosecutors want to ask me questions

Hi, I have a friend who has been accused of murder. It has been 2 years and he is barely going to trial in May of 2009. I received a called from the District Attorney's office asking me to come in because the prosecutors want to ask me questions. Apparently I was named as a witness. I am not a witness to anything because I do not know anything. Is it my legal right to decline this meeting because it takes time out of my life and away from my job to have to drive 82 miles just to answer questions ? Is there a possibility if I can find out who named me as a witness?

Yes, you can refuse to talk to the DA's office. As being a witness, I would ask your friend.
