Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

I received a letter stating that I have a warrant for my arrest for a offense over 6 years ago. I have no recollection of signing a ticket for the offense stated (Criminal Mischief Under $50). Why, in over 6 years of judicial history, has this warrant never come up? During this time I have: had clean background checks, signed leases for apartments, filed taxes, gotten tickets, been arrested three times, etc. Is this legal? Can the area courts ignore this for 6 years and still come after me?

I have no way of knowing how or why this happened, however, if in fact there is an outstanding warrant, it is imperative that you either surrender and post bond (do NOT enter a plea); or the better option being to retain an attorney to investigate and find out the underlying status, and if valid, then handle it in a way where you do not have a record.
