Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Sealing records

I served 4 years deferred adjudication and was not convicted of a felony. They told me that if I follow all the rules and not get in any more trouble I would get early release. Which I did. I am still having a problem finding a good paying job, because it shows up on public record. An attorney told me to have it sealed. What does that mean and how can I get it done under Texas law? Thank you for any information.

Re: Sealing records

Hi there,

Since you successfully completed your probation you record can be expunged or sealed for non disclosure.

There are different time periods one has to wait for certain offenses before this motion can be filed.

Once your record is sealed all prospective employers that do a criminal check on you will not find out that you were arrested and charged with a crime.

However, all governmental agencies will be able to access this information.

If we can be of any further assistance feel free to contact my office.

Sincerely,

Erick Platten
