What is the maximum time a person may serve for aggravated assault?

Aggravated Assault is considered a second degree felony with a range of punishment of not less than 2 years to twenty (20) years in the Institutional Division of the Texas Criminal Justice Center, or a first degree felony if a deadly weapon is used against a family member as defined by the family code, the Defendant injures someone he or she knows is a peace officer,in retaliation against someone who is a witness, or against a security guard, or by a public servant, then it carries a range of punishment of not less than 5 years to 99 years or life in the Institutional Division of Criminal Justice with the possibility of a fine up to $10,000.00.
