thief by my friend
my friend broke into my house and stole some of my clothes and a treadmill if he gives me my clothes back will it show he showed good faith and he will not be in as much trouble I would like him to have to pay for this by getting in jail or probation or something

You need a better definition of the word friend.
In any criminal case, the DA will ask for restitution. You should be reimbursed either the value of the items, or the items themselves.
The police department investigating the case, or the DA assigned the case will be able to respond to your inquiries as to the outcome.
