Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
What is time limit on filing a police report for theft of personal property? Item in question is a Rolex watch that I thought was in moms safe but after years of thinking it was there for safekeeping it is not! If I am to file a theft report I could not know when it was stolen but still have serial # and certificate on it .

5 years from the date of the theft is when the statute of limitations runs. You will have a very hard time getting the police to take a case on the facts as you state them. You might contact Rolex to see if they have a way to track the sale of watches by serial number. I doubt it but you can try.
