Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Texas

my boyfriend was charged with aggravated robbery on 2-2-07 and was sentenced to 50yrs state jail time....i think that is some hard time to do for someone who is only 24 yrs of age. yes, he had trouble in the past but his results of that was coming from a broken home...i wonder, can his time be reduced so that he can come home a lot sooner?
