Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Texas

Many Factors of Descrimination

Religious - Last 3 persons hired for respective CS/Sales dept go to same church. These people receive better treatment and pay. A girl in my dept that attends this church was interviewed for promotion to sales before the position was announced, after everyone was told it would be announced and available to everyone.

Age - I am the youngest in my dept and I was told upon termination that I had no exception for absences/tardies because I did not have children.

Equal Pay - Of 4 Sales people, the only one that is female receives pay substantially lower than males. All do same type of work, but the men attend the same church. I have made complaints to my mgr about receiving less pay than others that have been employed for less time and do less work, and my mgr threatened to fire me so I would not get annual bonus.

Racial - My mgr has openly made comments calling others stupid and implying that hispanic people steal what they have.

Sex - My mgr openly expresses his opinion that women are inferior to men.

May I have more information on the above and do they qualify as discrimination?

Thanks.

Re: Many Factors of Descrimination

Possible Equal Pay Act violation and possible Title VII sex discrimination. To learn more about your rights and possible claim, contact the EEOC office in your city and/or the Texas Commission on Human Rights w/in 180 days you first learned of the discriminatory acts.

Re: Many Factors of Descrimination

You may have a claim or claims for discrimination, but probably do not if your employer has, and has recently had, fewer than 15 employees. As this is not clear cut (and other factors are also important), you should contact an attorney who is skilled in discrimination matters and evaluate your situation.
