Legal Question in Elder Law in Texas

My mother recently became unable to take care of herself. I moved her from Okla. to Texas and now is in a nursing home. I have incurred numerous expenses taking care of her estate. I have paid her bills, taxes, had to make approx. 5 road trips to Okla. (600 mi one way) taking care of her business, emptying and moving contents, maintenance etc- preparing home for sale. I know that I can get reimbursed for her actual bills that I paid. Question: From medicaid/medicare standpoint, what can I expect to be reimbursed for? Can I get paid mileage or just actual fuel expense, hotels, meals? I have had to miss work, take vacation time etc. I am her POA. I do not expect repayment for my time and troubles but only for my actual expenses. Her house is selling this week and I will need to get her accounts, pending bills paid etc. in order to turn over to the medicaid rep.

If she's on Medicaid, you should speak with a Medicaid planner before selling her house. You may wind up kicking her out of Medicaid.
