My question is I am the grandaughter to an elderly widowed man....His son has stolen and taken from my grandfather forever and now that he is critically ill in the hospital his main concern is getting a power of attorney and all his financials my question being is there anything i can do to stop this or get this before the useless son.

You can apply for a guardianship of the person. This will put you in charge. You should also call Adult Protective Services.
