Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

What is ''acknowledge of parent,'' ''a.o.p..''

I am the non-custodial parent? If I never signed an a.o.p., and I have been paying child support for the past 4 years, what rights do I have as being only the ''father of child?'' Do I have to pay child support in order to see my 6 year old child or can I still see him if the child still wants to spend time with me? I was never married to my child's mother, also, a DNA test was never done. Can I sue for the past 4 years of child support that I paid?

Since you and the mother were never married, and there is no court order, at this moment you have nothing to enforce in terms of visitation. You need to establish your parentage through the court, and obtain a court order which establishes conservatorship, child support and visitation. If you establish that you are not the father, then you can sue for past child support -- although it is not often a successful lawsuit.
