Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

child support

My husband & I are divorcing; we have agreed to all terms so that it is uncontested. He is self-employed and doesn't make much, and I make considerably more than he does. I am willing to agree to an amount that is a little less than half of the state's guidlelines. Will the judge be likely to accept it? Our kids are 17 and have jobs and should graduate in just over a year. I do not feel that more is really necessary. Thank you.

Re: child support

I assume what you mean is that the parties have agreed that the kids will reside with dad and that mom will pay child support. Even with more case information, it would be difficult to say whether or not a court would decide that the agreed amount would be in the children's best interest. Be prepared to justify not only child support, but each issue upon which there is agreement. Good luck.
