Common Law considerations

A man is living with me in my house, does not pay bills, we have been involved romantically for 2.5 yrs.

Neither has referred to the other as a spouse.

Could he claim common law?

I doubt it.

My sister lived with a man for over 7 years and she made sure they never had a common law marriage.
