Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Common Law

I have lived with a guy for 3 weeks and I just bought a house (my name only), the first payment has not even been made. His name was added to my bank account last week, other than that nothing else. Now we have broken up and he will not leave my house and he states that I have to file for divorce as he states we are Common Law? Is this true? We were engaged, but I gave his ring back. At no time have we called ourselves husband and wife in public. He just divorced his ''Common Law'' wife of 7 years, so he seems to be the ''expert''. He just filed bankruptcy and his house is being auctioned next week. I feel like he has scammed me. The police would not put him out of the home due to him having a house key, they said he had residence. How can I get him out of the house? Does he have a case on Common Law?

Re: Common Law

According to your side of the story, common law marriage does not appear to exist. Why don't you change the locks. That would negate his story of residence. If that doesn't work, you'll have to get an injunction.
