Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

What is the correct manner to fire an Attorney?

I have a final court date concerning my son in 1 week. My Co-Parent and I have come to terms and have agreed to have her Attorney draw the papers. I have to fire my Attorney... to get out of that legal binding. Unfortunatly, my feelings are not exactly happy when it concerns my Attorney in the first place... so I wanted to can him in the first place. I am not upset with him because of legal proceedings, but because I feel he has been extremly dishonest and unethical in my dealings with him. So, my two questions are: What is the proper way to fire him? And what is the proper way to go about filing a complaint against him?

Re: What is the correct manner to fire an Attorney?

1. Call or write your attorney. Please be advised that firing your attorney does not relieve you of the obligation of paying the legal bill. However, you are entitled to a copy of all pleadings, discovery, and other relevant items in your file.

2. If you want to file a complaint against your attorney, contact the State Bar of Texas in Austin. They will send you a form to complete and return to them. They will investigate your complaint and may contact you for additional information and/or a hearing on your complaint.
