Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Custody Modification

My ex and I are wanting to change our custody to 50/50. He recently changed jobs and we are now in a position to have the kids spend equal time with each of us. We live in the same town and this would not affect the kids school or personal lives in any way. We would like to modify our agreement to reflect this as well as cancel child support due to the fact that we would each be financially supporting the children an equal amount of the time. We agree about everything and have always tried to do what is best for the children. What I want to know is what we need to do. What forms do we need to file? Also, is there any more affordable way to do it. I have called a few lawyers and they all say that the cost would be over 1500. That may not sound like a lot but neither one of us makes a lot of money. Any advice would be welcome.

Re: Custody Modification

It is always best to hire an attorney, becuase of the hidden pitfalls about the law that neither of you, no offense, are aware of and takes too long to learn and/or read about.

I agree with Mr. Armstrong, and want to add that you should call a few more lawyers. There is no reason why this should cost $1500 in legal fees.
