Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Divorce

What are the community property laws in Texas. My husband and I have a contract on our home. The equity for this home came from the sell of his old house. He signed the papers for the loan on this house, my signature is on the title deed. I have worked and put alot of work into this house. Would I be entitled to any of the equity from the sell of the house?

Absolutely. Legally speaking, it appears that the equity from the old house has been co-mingled into the equity of the new house; so I would expect that you have a claim for 1/2 of the equity. Please see a lawyer if this issue is important to you.

Good Luck.
