Assuming that you were served by a Texas court, your service papers indicate that you must file an answer with the court by 10:00 A.M. on the Monday following 20 days after service. If you do not so, then the other party can go to the court anytime after that and have an order entered that is not likely to be something that you want.

There are other deadlines that will be coming up over the course of the litigation. You should consult an attorney to be able to follow the rules of the court. Failure to meet some of these deadlines could literally cause you to lose the case without any recourse.
