Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My son's father has custody add is moving to another state. Can I voluntarily give up my parental rights because my son does not want to visit me and is very disrespectful. I can not afford to constantly buy plane tickets or pay all the child support. He will be a legal adult in three years anyway. What can I do?

The law holds you financially responsible unless a court terminates your parental rights and obligations. Normally, this does not happen unless a stepparent is willing to step in and adopt the child and assume your obligations.
