Based on what you have written, adoption of a child may or may not be a difficult process. There are a few aspects regarding the child which need to be completed prior to an adoption being granted by a Court. More individual case specific facts are required to know if you being the only parent on the birth certificate would be an issue prior to the adoption. You should consult with a law firm to ensure that the steps are completed correctly. I doubt that any local Court is going to let your fiance adopt your child. If your relationship with this man isn't stable and permanent enough to marry him, then he has no business becoming this child's father. Adoptions are permanent, even if the two of you separate, he would still be her father.

The issue of the child's biological father is going to have to be addressed as part of any adoption.

Adoption are complicated, time consuming, and expensive. You need to talk to a good family law attorney.

Feel free to call my office if you would like to set up a consultation to discuss your situation in detail.
