Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

how do I file for my divorce w/out an Attorney?

My ex and I appeared in court in July 2006, the judge granted our divorce. However,I do not have an attorney & my ex owes her attorney money. Today I received a letter stating that our divorce is not final until a judge signs the final decree. How do I file the papers myself? She has no intention of paying her attorney. We have one issue re: equity in the house, we were ordered to obtain an appraisal which we did, without an attorney what do I need to do next?

It appears that no one filed a final decree to present for Entry of Judgment. If the divorce was granted, it sounds like all issues were ruled upon or agreed to. You need to work up a Final Decree of Divorce and present it to the court for signature and entry. The petitioner's attorney is usually responsible for drafting the final orders. If your ex was the petitioner, I suggest you contact her attorney and have him draft it. It shouldn't matter that she owes him money.
