How do I file a motion of continuation in a child custody case? I do not have an attorney and can not afford one.

The easiest way is to go down to the District Clerk's office in the county where it's pending and pay a jury fee (usually $30). This must be done at least 30 days prior to the trial setting.

In the alternative, just file a motion for continuance, and give the reason for it. The motion must be sworn to, or it's defective. You will then have to get it it set for a hearing.
