If granted half of my husband's retirement in a divorce decree does the longshoremen's union have the right to make me wait until my ex retires to collect on it?

The answer to your question is: Your rights to get the money cannot be superior to your husband's. In other words, if HE would have to wait, under the terms of the retirement plan, then YOU have to wait.

It has nothing to do with the rights of the union.
