Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Hello

I am a homemaker, I have been with my husband for 20 years , married to him for 11 years. My husband has decided that he no longer want to be with me. We still reside together but he said he will no longer support me financially. He is withholding money from me and I have no source of income. Can my husband legally do this? I live in the state of Texas if that matters.

I think that the short answer on this is going to be that you're going to need to file for divorce and request temporary orders that will provide you with monetary support, make sure the bills get paid, stop him from hiding or destroying assets or threatening, harassing, or hurting you, and allow you to stay in the house while the divorce is pending. Under the circumstances you describe, you should also qualify for spousal support for a few years after the divorce (monthly payments of a percentage of his income, in addition to your share of the community property assets), to give you time to get your life together and either go back to school or get job training so that you'll be able to support yourself. Good luck.
