Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My husband went to court over a child custody case. He went with no lawyer, now he's having to pay his ex girlfriends lawyer $2,000. Is there anyway he could get a lawyer and not have to pay that? Or would if he doesn't pay? What will happen to him?

If the judge ordered him to pay the attorney's fees then he can be held in contempt of court if he does not pay. That could include more fines or jail.

He would need to meet with an attorney in the county where this matter was heard to learn if he had any other options. It is impossible from the limited info you provided to fully answer this question. He needs to take the paperwork to an attorney to review.

Please tell all of your friends & family never to go to court without an attorney.
