Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Legal repercussions of 17-year-old leaving home.

My girlfriend's mother has forbidden her to leave the house, outside of going to school, so that she can't see me. She wants to leave home and move in with a teacher, but she's 17. We need to know if her mother could take legal action to force her back home. From what I have read in the Texas Statutes, Texas Penal Code says it is illegal to harbor a person under 18, while Texas Family Code says it is legal for a person 17+ to leave home. Could someone give me a definite answer?

You're not going to like my opinion, which is that anyone who gets involved in this situation is nuts, especially the teacher. When your girlfriend is 18, she can make her own decisions, but until then, her mother is in charge.
