Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I live in the State of Texas. My son moved in with me in October 2010. He is 18 and going into the 12th grade. His Father has not helped with any expenses. I started fighting him for child support through attorney General in December. They called us in for negotiation conference. I man from GA office explained to us that today was only to modify custody. He ask my ex if he would agree that I have custody now. My ex said well he is 18 he can do what he wants. The man from GA then said yes but as of right now you have custody, will you agree to turn over custody? My ex responded by saying no, If I have custody then I will force him to move back with me. I have a few questions ~ 1. Can he call the police and make my son go with him? 2. What happens now? 3. Where can I get free legal assistance, legal aid says they cant help me unless my ex serves me. I am on SSI.

I think you left out some important information.

Is there an order in place that gives a parent custody of the child? Is it a Texas order? Is it a Georgia order?
